The heart of this bass is its PJ pickup configuration, featuring a Precision-style split single-coil at the neck position and a Jazz Bass single-coil at the bridge. This setup provides a wide range of tones, from deep and punchy to smooth and resonant, allowing you to adapt to various genres and playing styles. The Precision pickup delivers a rich, round tone with a focused midrange, while the Jazz pickup offers a more balanced, full-bodied sound with a prominent high end.
The Fender Bass PJ Hybrid features a Contoured Neck Heel design, which provides a more comfortable playing experience, especially for extended sessions. This ergonomic design reduces pressure on your hand and wrist, allowing you to play with ease and confidence.
This bass is also equipped with a modern "C"-shaped maple neck with a 9.5"-14" compound radius fingerboard, providing a smooth and fast playing surface. The 20 medium jumbo frets make it easy to move up and down the neck, while the satin finish on the back of the neck reduces friction and enhances playability.
The Fender Bass PJ Hybrid is completed with a gloss urethane finish in a variety of eye-catching colors, including three-tone sunburst, black, and sonic blue, ensuring that you'll stand out on stage or in the studio.
To protect your investment, this bass comes with a high-quality Fender PJ Bass Case. I got this case in the late 90s - early 00s with a hybrid pj bass so it is possible contoured heel was crafted differently back then to cause difference. The neck was still slightly elevated and not a perfect fit, but much closer to where it should be. Up for sale is a used Fender bass case pj hybrid with contoured neck heel. This case is not a good fit for regular or j basses as they have square heel.
There is no key so I cannot verify whether or not the latch lock functions. I tested this case with standard and j basses - although the was able to close, wouldn't recommend it. The lower bout latch closes but it is a bit off-center which causes to hang up. The square heel causes necks to be elevated and would not protect well if there was an impact that area.
The exterior of case has a fair amount scuffing scraping on it but abs plastic is not cracked anywhere. Ultimately, the padding within case is Styrofoam so it could be pressed into a slightly different shape with enough force. I also tested this with a new production Mexican made deluxe jazz bass and it was better fit due to the contoured heel.
